Glenburrel Farm

Craven Arms, Shropshire

Inspired by the Shropshire Hills and the wider landscape context, this garden surrounding an old stone agricultural barn is designed to balance rural character with functional family living. The scheme brings together a series of distinct garden elements to create a space that supports both play and wellbeing, ensuring it works for children and parents alike.

Key features include an outdoor kitchen for gathering and informal dining, a water feature that introduces movement and sound, and an intimate fire bowl area for evening use. A dedicated wellness zone completes the scheme, incorporating a sauna, bath, and outdoor shower, offering a calm retreat within the wider garden.

Within the planting, a series of stone boulders are introduced as sculptural elements, adding a playful, organic quality to the landscape. They bring rhythm, texture, and a sense of maturity to the garden, reinforcing its connection to the wider rural setting.

Planting plays a key role in defining the structure of the garden, creating a sense of enclosure, intimacy, and grounding across the different spaces. It helps to organise the various areas while maintaining a natural, relaxed character throughout. A series of multi-stem trees introduce presence, dappled shade, and gentle movement, while also strengthening the connection to the wider landscape beyond.
