Shropshire Cottage

A series of shady borders surrounding this farmhouse cottage where in need of replanting. The borders were designed in a 'modern cottage garden' style where blowsy and delicate plants such as Persicaria bistorta, Sanguisorba and Luzula nivea mingle amongst a strong structure of Buxus topiary. Ferns, Tellima, Hosta's and Anemanthele lessoniana also play a vital roll in areas of dry shade - with seasonal bulbs helping to lift the planting throughout the year.

Sculpture plays a key role in this garden - the planting was set out in such a way to accentuate these special items. The sculptures where never moved during this garden renovation - where they were found is where they remained and belonged. The design had to work around them.
