PROCESS

Every project is unique and poses its own set of opportunities and challenges. Therefore the process of a project can take many possible routes. The typical path is described below, with illustrations taken from a range of previous projects.

A detailed schedule of works will be created on appointment of any new project, giving clients a comprehensive overview of work stages required.

1 BRIEF

When dealing with a large site a full topographical survey is usually commissioned from professional surveyors. It forms the basis for all design work. GWF will also undertake tree and photo surveys, and further site analysis as required / requested

An initial meeting with the client on site enables us to get a sense of the place and the needs and desires of its users. A written brief forms the basis for further discussion. A detailed scope of works and fee proposal is then issued for review and approval

3a CONCEPT DESIGN PLANS

Once all information above has been compiled, we then develop concept design proposals, these initially begin with hand drawn sketches and develop into a masterplan from which further discussions and ideas can flow

3b CONCEPT DESIGN VISUALS

On review and approval of the masterplan, a 3D rendered model is produced. From this a series of detailed views form a realistic and palpable medium from which to develop the design and tailor it to the clients every requirement

4 DETAILED DESIGN

Following feedback and revisions to the concept proposals, the design is developed in full detail, sufficient for the design to be built. The information will include working plans, sections, details, planting plans and specifications. *This drawing package also allows the scheme to be accurately priced by contractors

5 TENDER

If the client wishes to go to tender, a full tender package of works will be drawn up and issued to contractors for pricing. We would issue a list of chosen contractors for tendering based upon relevant experience and suitability and review / evaluate the tender returns based upon submission and cost

6 PROJECT MANAGEMENT

To ensure quality and efficiency during the construction phase, we can provide excellent project management assistance.

We would also be responsible for setting out all planting and snagging the completed works

7 AFTERCARE

To ensure healthy development we will advise and direct clients on how best to tend to their new gardens. Often we will create a maintenance manual from which advise can be taken. We always stay in close contact with our projects, always there to lend a hand
